In an effort to bring relief to consumers and combat the impact of rising food and drug prices due to
elevated levels of global inflation, the Government of The Bahamas has amended the Price Control
Regulations effective 17th October, 2022 to expand the list of items subject to price control.
At their request, the Prime Minister and officials on Monday October 18th met with a group of grocery
wholesalers and retailers to dialogue on the best way forward. The Minister of Economic Affairs and
officials met separately with a group of pharmaceutical wholesalers and retailers on Friday October
21st.
The meetings were fruitful and in both instances and both sides committed to continuing the dialogue.
Accordingly, to allow for a smooth transition to the new margins, the Government has agreed to allow
merchants up to 31 October 2022 to complete their respective transition processes.
Beginning 1st November 2022, enforcement of the final amended regulations will commence.
