A murdered man's case was officially closed yesterday when the prosecution presented his death certificate to the court.

Kevin Dion Whyms, whose street name was "Hot Boy", was accused of the October 23, 2018 murder of Kelson Kelly and the attempted murder of Jeremy Util.

Whyms, 32, was on bail for those offenses when he was shot and killed on July 1.

According to police, Whyms was driving his Nissan Note along Essex Street, off Shirley Street, when the occupants of another car pulled alongside him and opened fire.

Whyms was pronounced dead on the scene.

Police have charged Brandan Smith, 19, with his murder.
