Two accused of robberies

TWO men were arraigned in a Magistrate's Court yesterday on separate charges of attempted robbery and robbery by violence.

 

Gerald Forbes, 52, stood before Senior Magistrate Carolyn Vogt-Evans on a charge of attempted robbery.
#On July 25 on Crab Apple Street, Forbes is alleged to have tried to rob Sherine Gibson of a 2011 Toyota Yaris. This vehicle valued at $25,995.00 is the property of Bahamas Power and Light.
#In court, the defendant pleaded not guilty. He was granted bail at $7,000 with one or two sureties. Forbes is expected to sign in at East Street South Police Station the last Sunday of every month. Forbes’ trial is set for October 13.
#The other man, James Thompson, aka Reginald Thompson, 34, stood before Magistrate Shaka Serville on a charge of robbery by violence.
#On July 25 at West Street, Thompson allegedly robbed Sonny Rolle of $40 cash by force. He was not required to enter a plea and was told his case would proceed by way of Voluntary Bill of Indictment (VBI).
#Thompson was informed he had the right to apply to the Supreme Court for bail, where his trial is to be held.
#He was remanded to the Bahamas Department of Correctional Services (BDCS). Thompson is expected to return to court on July 29.
