The University of London School of Advanced Studies has named President of the Bahamas Technical and Vocational Institute, Dr. Robert W. Robertson as a Senior Research Fellow.

Senior Research Fellowships (SRFs) are available to distinguished academics with global experience and a publication record commensurate with the rank of professor. SRFs provide senior and established academics an opportunity to pursue high quality research outputs in a specialized supportive environment.

The nomination review committee noted that there was unanimous support for their selection of Dr. Robertson. He holds graduate degrees from Canada, the United States and the United Kingdom including a Doctorate in Management and Organization from the University of Stirling, Scotland.

Further, Robertson has extensive global experience, including serving as a Visiting Professor at the Faculty of Economics, University of Ljubljana, Slovenia. He was named a Fulbright Scholar by the US Department of State (2016), an Emerging Leader in the Americas by Global Affairs Canada (2016) and a Paul Harris Fellow (2017) by Rotary International.

He is the author of more than 70 peer reviewed articles related to a range of topics including: quality management, international business, adult education, distance education, diversity equity and inclusion, technical and vocational education, the future of work, the skills gap, corporate strategic planning and business planning.

As a part of the fellowship, Dr. Robertson will continue to conduct research into the future of work post-pandemic, the skills gap and the use of short, industry certified and, online and blended modes of course delivery to bridge the skills gap across the Caribbean region. This research will be conducted under the auspices of the Commonwealth Studies Institute. Specific outputs will include peer reviewed research papers and presentations at professional conferences.
