On December 7 , a team of employee volunteers from Scotiabank Bahamas showed up to spread holiday cheer to the students at Sandilands Primary School. This as the Bank continues to celebrate 65 years of service to the Bahamas.

In partnership with local non-profit group, Hands for Hunger (H4H), the bankers packed and delivered 75 care packages filled with essential food items sourced from the H4H pantry now located on Carmichael Road. From there, they delivered the boxes and goodie bags filled with toys and treats to students of the primary school, located in the heart of the historic neighborhood of Fox Hill.

“We are excited to continue our ongoing partnership with Hands for Hunger but, more importantly, to provide joy, cheer and meals to these deserving children and their families during the Christmas season,” shared Nakera Symonette, Director, Business Support, at Scotiabank. Also, helping to spread the festive spirit was H4H Outreach Manager, Precious Fortune- Thompson, who thanked the Bank and noted that their pantry, which serves as a mini food store, was available for persons to shop for items that they need at no cost.

“We are so grateful that Scotiabank has continued to financially support us throughout the pandemic and has also volunteered with us during this busy time of year. They have helped us to increase our impact throughout the community, so persons in need can get the assistance,” said Thompson.

Sandilands Primary School principal, Sheanda Maycock also thanked the Bank and H4H for their selflessness during this Yuletide season.

“It is a pleasure for us to be here and to receive the blessings from this organization and from this partnership,” said Maycock.

“We are here with our parents and students, humbled, for this gift of love. All we can say is thank you because, in these trying times, there are still people who remember to share Christ’s love by giving. We wish you a merry Christmas, a prosperous new year; we are thankful. God bless.”

Since August 2020, Scotiabank Bahamas has provided $40,000 in cash donations to Hands for Hunger.
