Volunteers from the Sunshine Pilot Club opened the Fun-Day with a Brain Minders "Be Safe, Play Safe" presentation to encourage the children to wear safety helmets and floatation devises before riding a bike or going swimming.  After the safety demonstration, the thirty residents set off for the pool, bouncy castle, basketball court and craft table for an afternoon of fun and relaxation.

The Fun-Day was just the latest community outreach activity spearheaded by the U.S. Embassy's Marine Corps Detachment.  Last spring the U.S. Marines partnered with the Embassy's Foreign Service National Employees Association and Urban Riders to host a retreat for residents of the Willie Mae Pratt Center.  The U.S. Marine Corps Detachment has also donated toys to local children as part of the Toys for Tots program, delivered household goods to AIDS patients, and participated in the annual Special Olympic Torch Run.

The U.S. Embassy wishes to thank co-sponsor Bahamas Food Services for helping to make the day such as success for all and for their support throughout the year.  Photo:  Sunshine Pilot Club Members from left to right - Projects Coordinator Jacqueline Evans, BrainMinders Coordinator Sophie Cason, Fundraising Coordinator Dellareese Edgecombe and Membership Coordinator Carolyn Deleveaux.
