State-recognised funeral for Rev Timothy Stewart

A STATE-RECOGNISED funeral for Reverend Timothy Stewart, senior pastor of Bethel Baptist Church, will be held on Friday at 11am.

According to a statement from the Cabinet Office, the funeral will take place at Bethel Baptist Church on Meeting Street. He will be buried in the church’s cemetery, which is also on Meeting Street.
#Rev Stewart’s body will lie in repose in the foyer of the church from 9am to 5pm today. The general public will be able to view his body from 12.30pm to 5pm. The funeral will be broadcast on the ZNS Radio Network.
#Rev Stewart was a long-serving pastor of the historic Bethel Baptist Church. He also was the first international president of the Progressive National Baptist Convention.
#He died on September 17 at the age of 64.
#Last week, Prime Minister Philip “Brave” Davis lamented his death and praised the pastor as a “giant in the international religious community, a consequential national leader, a community leader and builder and a supporter of the progressive movement”.
