Heat therapy can relax and soothe muscles and heal damaged tissue, which is why Amber Spa manager Carlethia Thurston touts heat therapy as a means to target stress key points for anyone suffering fatigue and tiredness, especially during this time as people navigate a COVID-19 era.

Heat therapy she said works by improving circulation and blood flow to a particular area, due to increased temperature. Thurston said increasing the temperature of the afflicted area even slightly, can soothe discomfort and increase muscle flexibility.
At Amber Spa, the Ultimate Amber Experience targets stress key points. It’s a moist heat therapy that provides a deeper muscle penetration to soothe and relieve stiff and sore muscles, followed by a back massage, a soothing leg treatment along with a foot massage.
The spa manager said heat treatment is perfect for people who feel stress in their back and can be customized, according to the client’s complaint.
In stress treatment, Thurston said she always recommends a 10-to-15-minute soak in the jacuzzi as the heat helps to relax muscles and to break down the lactic acid that causes tightness, aches, pains and stiffness in joints.
The moist heat therapy she said works to destress the body making it easier for therapists to manipulate muscles because the body is already in a relaxed state.
“Water is like a healing agent itself and creates balance, so anything pertaining to water therapy or hydrotherapy is also used with patients recovering from injury and helps to not cause stress with the joints in the body, so it’s like a therapy in itself whenever you use heat and water.”
In destressing from today’s stressors, the spa manager at the Warwick Hotel said their totally customizable offerings means that a green tea detox can also work wonders in helping melt away the negative effects of everyday stress, leaving you feeling cleansed and purified, as it helps with leg circulation as well as aches and pains in the knees and calf areas. And for those who may not like massage but are trying to find a way to relieve fatigue, she said a manicure and pedicure can also do wonders as a customized treatment.
“A manicure and pedicure can kind of take the same role as a massage, however, we’re just focusing on the legs and feet, providing reflexology with touching all the pressure points on the body, targeting into the client’s issue,” said Thurston.
