NEWS ITEM ON POTENTIAL TROPICAL CYCLONE THREE, ISSUED BY THE BAHAMAS DEPARTMENT OF METEOROLOGY FORECAST OFFICE SECTION AT 6AM EDT, FRIDAY 18THJUNE 2021.

...POTENTIAL TROPICAL CYCLONE THREE EXPECTED TO BRING HEAVY RAINFALL AND FLOODING TO THE NORTHERN GULF COAST STARTING LATER TODAY...

 AT 5AM EDT, THE CENTER OF POTENTIAL TROPICAL CYCLONE THREE WAS LOCATED NEAR LATITUDE 25.2°NORTH AND LONGITUDE 91.5° WEST OR ABOUT 310 MILES SOUTH OF MORGAN CITY, LOUISIANA OR ABOUT 435 MILES SOUTH-SOUTHWEST OF MOBILE ALABAMA.

THE POTENTIAL TROPICAL CYCLONE IS MOVING TOWARD THE NORTH NEAR 14 MPH AND THIS GENERAL MOTION IS EXPECTED FOR THE NEXT DAY OR SO.  ON THE FORECAST TRACK, THE SYSTEM WILL APPROACH THE NORTH-CENTRAL GULF COAST TONIGHT OR EARLY SATURDAY.  A SLOW NORTHEASTWARD MOTION ACROSS THE SOUTHEASTERN UNITED STATES IS LIKELY AFTER LANDFALL THROUGH THE WEEKEND.

MAXIMUM SUSTAINED WINDS ARE NEAR 35 MILES PER HOUR (MPH) WITH HIGHER GUSTS. SOME STRENGTHENING IS FORECAST, AND A SUBTROPICAL OR TROPICAL STORM IS LIKELY TO FORM OVER THE WEST-CENTRAL OR NORTHWESTERN GULF OF MEXICO LATER TODAY.
