Freeport man accused over gun and drugs

A 34-year-old Freeport man was charged in Grand Bahama on gun, ammunition and drug possession charges yesterday.

Khambrel Rolle, the son of a well-known Freeport businessman, appeared before Magistrate Charlton Smith. He was represented by Paul Wallace-Whitfield, who was assisted by Harvey Tynes.
#He was charged with possession of an unlicensed firearm with intent to supply. It is alleged that on June 3, at Freeport, the accused was found in possession of a black Austrian 9mm pistol with two magazines with intent to supply to another.
#Rolle was also charged with possession of ammunition with intent to supply. On the same date and place, it is alleged that he was found in possession of 85 bullets.
#On the charge of possession of dangerous drugs with intent to supply, it is said that at the same date and place, the accused was found in possession of 1.3 pounds of Indian hemp with intent to supply.
#Rolle pleaded not guilty to all the charges.
#Prosecutor Inspector Anthony Sawyer did not object to bail. However, he noted the offences are serious in nature and asked for conditions to be imposed with bail and requested the accused be made to report at Central Police Station three times a week.
#Magistrate Smith granted Rolle $8,000 bail with one surety on each count. He also ordered that he report to Central Police Station on Mondays before 6pm.
#The case was adjourned for trial on September 6.
