Man charged over fatal traffic accident

A 45-year-old man of East Grand Bahama was charged yesterday in connection with a traffic accident that killed two people, one of them a 12-year-old girl.

Harry Bevans, of McClean’s Town, appeared before Magistrate Charlton Smith in Freeport on two counts of killing in the course of dangerous driving.
#He is accused of driving a GMC Yukon on Grand Bahama Highway around 4.30pm on December 16, 2020 in a dangerous manner, causing the deaths of Sarah Bevans, 12, and Stanford Glinton.
#He was also charged with driving a motor vehicle without third party risk insurance.
#Bevans was also injured in the accident and was using a cane in the courtroom. He was not represented by an attorney during his arraignment.
#He pleaded not guilty to the charges.
#Inspector Anthony Sawyer, the prosecutor, did not object to bail.
#The case was adjourned to August 3 for trial, and Magistrate Smith granted Bevans $4,000 bail with one suretor on each count.
