A 45-year-old man of East Grand Bahama was charged yesterday in connection with a traffic accident that killed two people, one of them a 12-year-old girl.

Harry Bevans, of McClean’s Town, appeared before Magistrate Charlton Smith in Freeport on two counts of killing in the course of dangerous driving.

He is accused of driving a GMC Yukon on Grand Bahama Highway around 4.30pm on December 16, 2020 in a dangerous manner, causing the deaths of Sarah Bevans, 12, and Stanford Glinton.

He was also charged with driving a motor vehicle without third party risk insurance.

Bevans was also injured in the accident and was using a cane in the courtroom. He was not represented by an attorney during his arraignment.

He pleaded not guilty to the charges.

Inspector Anthony Sawyer, the prosecutor, did not object to bail.

The case was adjourned to August 3 for trial, and Magistrate Smith granted Bevans $4,000 bail with one suretor on each count.
