Seven Day Weather Forecast 10th May to 16th May 2021

A ridge of high pressure will influence the weather pattern across The Bahamas through mid-week.  This will maintain a moist, southerly wind flow across the area to support very warm to hot daytime temperatures and warm nights.  A much wetter pattern is expected over the Northwest Bahamas from Thursday, as a frontal system approaches the area.  Pockets of unsettled weather is forecast for the Northwest and Central Bahamas from Thursday through the Saturday.  The shower activity is expected to shift southeastward, mainly across the Central and Southeast Bahamas on Sunday.  Simultaneously, high pressure will build behind the front and bring breezy to windy conditions through early next week.

MONDAY 10th – Weather: Partly sunny and hot with the chance of a few passing showers and stray thunderstorms; a bit breezy in the Southeast Bahamas.  Fair and warm tonight.  Small Craft operators in the Southeast Bahamas should exercise caution.  Winds:Southeast to South at 10 to 15 knots over open waters in the Northwest Bahamas; East to Southeast at 10 to 15 knots in the Central Bahamas and 15 to 20 knots in the Southeast Bahamas.  Seas: 2 to 4 feet over the ocean in the Northwest and Central Bahamas; 4 to 6 feet in the Southeast Bahamas.

TUESDAY 11th – Partly sunny and hot with the chance of a few passing showers and stray thunderstorms; a bit breezy in the Southeast Bahamas.  Fair and warm at night.  Small Craft operators in the Southeast Bahamas should exercise caution.  Winds: Southeast to South at 10 to 15 knots over open waters in the Northwest Bahamas; East to Southeast at 10 to 15 knots in the Central Bahamas and 15 to 20 knots in the Southeast Bahamas.  Seas: 2 to 4 feet over the ocean in the Northwest and Central Bahamas; 4 to 6 feet in the Southeast Bahamas.

WEDNESDAY 12th – Partly cloudy and hot; a bit breezy in the Southeast Bahamas with isolated showers and a few possible thunderstorms.  Mainly fair and warm at night.  Small Craft operators in the Southeast Bahamas should exercise caution.  Winds: Southeast to South at 10 to 15 knots over open waters in the Northwest Bahamas; East to Southeast at 10 to 15 knots in the Central Bahamas and 15 to 20 knots in the Southeast Bahamas.  Seas:2 to 4 feet over the ocean in the Northwest and Central Bahamas; 4 to 6 feet in the Southeast Bahamas.

THURSDAY 13th – Partly cloudy to cloudy and very warm with scattered showers and isolated thunderstorms mainly in the Northwest and Central Bahamas; a bit breezy in the Southeast Bahamas. Small craft operators in the Southeast Bahamas should continue to exercise caution.  Expect gusty winds and higher seas in or near heavy showers and thunderstorms.  Winds:East to South at 10 knots or less over open waters in the Northwest Bahamas, falling light and variable at times; East to Southeast at 10 to 15 knots in the Central Bahamas and 15 to 20 knots in the Southeast Bahamas.  Seas:1 to 3 feet over the ocean in the Northwest Bahamas; 2 to 4 feet in the Central Bahamas and 4  to 6 feet in the Southeast Bahamas.

FRIDAY 14th – Partly cloudy to cloudy and warm with scattered showers and isolated thunderstorms mainly in the Northwest and Central Bahamas, occasionally throughout the day and night. Partly sunny and hot elsewhere with possible isolated showers, turning fair and warm at night.  Expect gusty winds and higher seas in or near heavy showers and thunderstorms.  Winds:East to Southeast at 10 knots or less in Northwest and Central Bahamas, becoming Northerly at 10 to 15 knots at night in the Northwest Bahamas; East to Southeast at 10 to 15 knots in the Southeast Bahamas.  Seas:1 to 3 feet over the ocean in the Northwest and Central Bahamas, building 2 to 4 feet at night in the Northwest Bahamas; 2 to 4 feet in the Southeast Bahamas.
                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                        
SATURDAY 15th – Variably cloudy with scattered showers and isolated thunderstorms; becoming a bit breezy at night.   Small Craft Caution will come into effect for the Northwest Bahamas at night.  Also, expect gusty winds and higher seas in or near heavy showers and thunderstorms.  Winds: North to Northeast at 10 to 15 knots in the Northwest Bahamas, increasing 15 to 20 knots at night; Northeast to East at 10 knots or less in the Central and Southeast Bahamas, increasing 10 to 15 knots at night.  Seas: 2 to 4 feet over the ocean in the Northwest Bahamas, building 4 to 6 feet at night; 1 to 3 feet in the Central and Southeast Bahamas, building 2 to 4 feet at night.

SUNDAY 16th – Variably cloudy and breezy to windy with scattered showers an isolated thunderstorms mainly in the Central and Southeast Bahamas.  A Small Craft Advisory will be in effect for the Northwest Bahamas and Small craft operators in the Central and Southeast Bahamas should exercise caution.  Winds:Northeast to East at 15 to 25 knots in the Northwest Bahamas and 15 to 20 knots in the Central and Southeast Bahamas. Seas:5 to 8 feet over the ocean in the Northwest Bahamas and 4 to 6 feet in the Central and Southeast Bahamas
