THE Baptist Sports Council hosted the 2011 Jason Saunders Volleyball Classic on Saturday at the DW Davis Gymnasium.

While the turnout of Churches was not what organisers had anticipated, they were quite pleased with the participation of many of the junior athletes, who are currently being trained by Saunders in preparation to their national team travel this summer.

The players were on hand and represented the Churches that attended. In the ladies' division, Golden Gates Native Baptist Church prevailed over Salem Union Baptist Church 29-27 and 26-24.

Kendra Dawkins was named the most valuable player.

In the men's game, however, Salem came back and managed to pull off a 25-22, 25-23 ...
