Police deny prisoner escape from Station

POLICE chiefs have denied claims that a prisoner escaped from the Central Police Station.

Reports surfaced yesterday that a prisoner, who was being held at Central on sexually-related charges, slipped free from the custody of his prison guards and escaped. The incident allegedly took place on Thursday, July 30.

Superintendent Leon Bethel, officer in charge of the Central Police Station, said no-one escaped from the station. However, he did admit that a man temporarily fled as he was being brought into the building.
