Colina Insurance Limited (Colina) is a proud Vice President level sponsor of The Bahamas Primary School Student of the Year Foundation (BPSSYF), honouring the top grade six students in The Bahamas.

“At Colina, we recognize that an investment in youth is a lucrative investment with high future yields,” said Maxine V. Seymour, Director, Corporate Communications, Colina. “We commend the Foundation on its consistency in saluting our nation’s finest over the last two decades. Past winners, finalists and nominees continue to excel as adults, making valuable contributions to our society.”

Paula Hernandez Can is the BPSSYF semi-finalist to receive a scholarship, courtesy of Colina. The award will assist the twelve-year-old star student with high school.

“I am so proud of this young Girl Guide for her academic achievements in elementary school and wish her every success in high school,” said Seymour.

Can is a Principal’s List scholar who recently completed sixth grade at Christian Heritage School on New Providence island.

“Colina making this investment in the life of a student in our educational system has gone a long way in recognizing and rewarding excellence,” said Dr. Ricardo P. Deveaux, President & CEO, BPSSYF.

Event organizers hosted a virtual ceremony on Saturday, July 25, 2020 at 5:00 p.m. after plans for May’s traditional in-person awards were disrupted by lockdowns and restrictions implemented amidst the COVID-19 pandemic. The ceremony was aired live on Cable Channel 212 and the BPSSYF’s website at http://www.bahamaspstoy.org along with Facebook Live via the Foundation’s page. Over 100 students from public and private schools in New Providence, Grand Bahama and the Family Islands were honoured.
