Bahamian Attorney, Nateisha Bain, Wins STEP Excellence Award

Nateisha Bain, Bahamian real-estate attorney at the law firm Lennox Paton and member of STEP Bahamas, is a recent recipient of a STEP Excellence Award (https://excellence.step.org/Awards).

Bain obtained the highest score across all jurisdictions in the world of all 2019 sittings of the STEP Advanced Certificate in Trust Creation: Law and Practice examination, and was recognized by STEP on June 29th, 2020 for this notable achievement. According to STEP, winners of the STEP Excellence Awards“represent the best and brightest practitioners - many of whom will be names to watch out for in the years ahead.”

STEP, the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners, headquartered in the United Kingdom, is the professional association for the trust and estate management profession worldwide. STEP Bahamas is the local branch of the group of professionals who work across a wide spectrum of industries including, wealth and estate management, law, banking and finance.

Describing her reaction to receiving the award, Bain said that she was honoured to be recognized and looks forward to continuing to develop professionally. “Completing the STEP Advanced Certificate in Trust Creation: Law & Practice course has been extremely beneficial. To be recognized as the top student in the world for my performance in the examination is an amazing accomplishment and I am truly honoured,” said Bain. 

Bain is a Senior Associate in the Real Estate and Resort Development Group at Lennox Paton Chambers located at Bayside Executive Park, West Bay Street & Blake Road, Nassau, Bahamas. She attained an AA in Law and Criminal Justice from the former College of The Bahamas in 2009 and an LL.B from the University of Manchester, UK in 2012. She completed the Bar Professional Training Course at the University of Law, UK, in 2013, and was subsequently called to the Bar of England and Wales and the Bar of the Commonwealth of The Bahamas in the same year. She joined Lennox Paton in 2013 and specialises in representing purchasers and vendors in buying and selling residential and commercial property, as well as representing mortgagees and mortgagors in secured financing transactions. Bain also specialises in resort and condominium development, including acquisition, financing, regulatory approvals, master planning, sales programmes and heads of agreements. Her practice extends to private client, corporate, commercial, estate planning and residency matters.

Nateisha Bain is an active member of Rotary International. She has served as the Membership Director (2019-2020) for the Rotary Club of Old Fort and was also recently named Board Member of the Year by the Club. Bain was also selected as a 2019 winner of the “40 under 40 Most Influential and Successful Professionals in The Bahamas” award by Professional Services Bahamas.
