In a few short weeks, The Bahamas will reopen its borders, welcoming in thousands of travel-happy visitors to our shores. In anticipation, Grand Bahama’s Happy Hotel is taking steps to prepare its staff members to operate in a post-COVID-19 environment.

As many as forty Pelican staff members - all adhering to preset social distancing protocols - recently participated in the government-mandated tourism business compliance training sessions held at the hotel’s canal house meeting spaces.

“We are elated and excited to welcome both our Bahamian and International guests back to our Happy Hotel, and we want them to know that their health and safety is a priority to us,” said Pelican Bay’s Operation’s Manager Della Bridgewater.

The day-long session provided focused training on managing guest interactions, improved cleaning measures, and more.

“The information and support provided during the sessions were very timely as we’re all working to navigate this ‘new normal’” Bridgewater explained.

“While we’ve always prided ourselves on providing a happy and safe environment for all our visitors, this additional training has made us confident that we can welcome our guests to a cleaner and more pristine environment.”

In the past few months, the hotel undertook a series of significant renovations to repair damage caused by the passage of Hurricane Dorian.

As those works have neared completion, the property has moved on to deep cleaning its rooms and other shared hotel spaces to ensure a COVID-Free environment.

In addition to improving health and safety protocols that align with standards set by the World Health Organization, the Happy Hotel has also invested in new technology such as electrostatic disinfection designed to promote a more complete clean and Bridgewater has become the ‘Clean and Pristine Manager’.

Grand Bahama’s residents and Bahamians from around the archipelago will be the first to experience the Happy Hotel experience thanks to a new ‘staycation’ rate introduced to mark and celebrate the official reopening of the hotel.

Persons who are interested in taking advantage of the special room rate package which includes a free bottle of wine and a fifty-dollar meal credit are encouraged to visit the hotel’s social media pages at https://www.facebook.com/PelicanBayHotel/ for more information.
