The Prices Control Commission has seen the outcry from The Bahamian consumers on the price of eggs.

THE DUTY ON EGGS IS 30% PLUS 12% VAT. THE CONTROL MARK UP RETAIL MARK UP IS 10%

Our Price Control Commission Inspectors obtained invoices from the Local Suppliers and the US invoices to verify the contents. The prices are high but the retailers are not making any profits from eggs.

In addition to the egg situation, we have the same problem with Lysol products, Hand Sanitizers and rubbing alcohol. Again because the Corona Virus is the US, the demands for these items are extremely high, hence the hike in prices increasing started in the USA.
