Gathered at the dinner table or around the Christmas tree, the holidays are a beloved time of year for many to fellowship with family and friends. However, for many people, Christmas is a difficult time - a reminder of what they do not have.

For the last 60 years, The Salvation Army’s Annual Christmas Luncheon provides an opportunity for hundreds of elderly persons in need to enjoy a holiday celebration specially curated for them to feel remembered and cared for during this season. For those who may otherwise be alone during this time, it is a cherished event that goes a long way to help them get the happy Christmas they might otherwise have missed.

The Salvation Army’s Divisional Commander, Major Clarence Ingram shared, “it brings us great joy to spread holiday cheer to those who may be struggling during the Christmas season. We are so grateful to our sponsors, volunteers, and supporters who have enabled us to touch lives through the Christmas Luncheon for the last six decades.”

Committed to doing the most good, The Salvation Army’s Christmas Luncheon is a part of the organization’s Christmas Cheer Program, an extension of their year-round Feeding Program.

At the luncheon, each guest is treated to a traditional Bahamian Christmas dinner with all the fixings, festive entertainment, and a care package. The generous donation and volunteers from corporate Bahamas enable the Salvation Army to continue this holiday tradition.

This year, the event is sponsored by CIBC FirstCaribbean International Bank, with staff members volunteering to ensure the event’s success.
