The Bahamas Telecommunications Company (BTC) has supplemented its technical team on the ground on Grand Bahama as it seeks to fully restore landline, internet, television and mobile services. In addition to restoring services, BTC is also upgrading customers to its ultra-modern, fiber to the home (FTTH) service, which provides exponential broadband speeds and an unrivaled television product. The upgrades are being done free of charge to customers. The company is also continuing its efforts to restore services to Abaco. Senior Director of Technical Operations André Foster said, “We have increased manpower on the ground in Grand Bahama as we work to restore all landline, internet and television services as quickly as possible. The progress is encouraging and we are working to have all services restored. Billing for fixed line services has been suspended for customers in Grand Bahama and Abaco since September.”
