A man accused of offering to pay a witness not to testify at his trial pleaded guilty to obstruction of justice yesterday.

However, Chief Magistrate Joyann Ferguson-Pratt entered a not guilty plea for Shane Mackey, 37, after he disagreed with the facts read by the prosecutor, Corporal Samantha Miah.

Prosecutors allege that Mackey phoned the witness three times in February and offered her a total of $800 if she did not come to court.
