On Board with the Boys' Brigade

The 23rd Company of The Boys’ Brigade – the oldest uniformed Christian organization for boys – is hosting its annual “Grill n Chill” next week Saturday, February 9th, at St. Barnabas Church.

Captain Henry Curry said the funds from that event, along with a donation from Consolidated Water (Bahamas) Ltd. (CWCO), will assist with the purchase of a much-needed 15-seater bus for the Brigade.

According to Captain Curry, “The Boys’ Brigade is trying to raise enough money to buy a 15-seater bus to help with transportation, especially for when we take the boys on field trips. If God blesses us with more donations, hopefully we can afford two 15-seaters. Then we’d have the capacity to boost our membership.”

He explained that the organization “is all about teaching young men how to be good citizens based on Christian principles.

Our objective is the advancement of Christ’s kingdom among boys and the promotion of obedience, reverence, discipline, and self-respect. We try to mould the boy to be a better man.”

Long-time sponsor CWCO has been all-on-board the Boys’ Brigade train since 2013, when they first donated to the non-profit group, and Captain Curry said this year’s annual donation from the company “will go a long way in helping with the vital purchase of the bus.”

CWCO general Manager Bryan Russell said he is a supporter of the life guidelines taught at The Boys’ Brigade.

“The principles and discipline The Boys’ Brigade instils in their members helps raise up good citizens that contribute to the best possible future for The Bahamas, and our company is proud to be a partner in that.”

Captain Curry said, “Combined with the proceeds from our annual ‘Grill n Chill’ next week Saturday, I think we’ll meet our mark. If you’d like to support us by buying a ticket, you can call me at 455-7224, or you can come down to St. Barnabas Church and purchase your ticket.

The cost is $12 for steak and $10 for chicken, and any contribution is greatly appreciated.”

The Boys Brigade received a donation from Consolidated Water (Bahamas) Ltd. (CWCO) that, along with proceeds from the non-profit’s annual Grill n Chill next week Saturday, will enable the purchase of a much-needed bus for the organization.
