GOVERNOR GENERAL’S COURTESY CALL AT OPM/GB – Governor General, Her Excellency the Most Hon. Dame Marguerite Pindling (second left) made a courtesy call on Minister of State for Grand Bahama, Senator Kwasi Thompson, at the Office of the Prime Minister, December 5, 2018.

During the Courtesy Call, the Governor General was presented a new book written by S. L. Sheppard (third left).

In accepting the book, she said she found the fictional novel’s title, “The Leftover Daughters” to be very intriguing and promised to read it.

The author said that she was inspired by a story told to her by one of her friends and after doing some research, found that she ended up with an entire novel.

On hand during the presentation were Minister Thompson (left); Harcourt Brown, Permanent Secretary in the Office of the Prime Minister, Grand Bahama (right); the author’s guests, including her mother Mrs. Mavis Shepherd; her sister Lucille Harris-Russell and her best friend, Paulette Russell, to whom she credited the idea for the novel.
