Santa Makes an Early Stop in Bimini This Year

Mon, Dec 3rd 2018, 12:00 PM

On December 6, the annual Resorts World Bimini Toy Drive will kick off in spectacular fashion. In partnership with Tropic Ocean Airways, a seaplane packed with toys for all ages (and decorated as Santa’s iconic sleigh) will be departing at 9:25am from the Miami Seaplane Base. Bimini is just a half-hour flight from Miami, so the Resorts World Bimini team will be distributing the toys in no time. In 2017, the resort’s team delivered gifts to 476 children ranging from ages 1 – 18.

“The holidays are a time for giving and our annual Toy Drive is a cause that is near and dear to my heart,” says Missy Lawrence, Resort World Bimini’s president. “Our team feels passionate about giving back to the Bimini community and we strive to have a positive impact on their everyday lives whenever possible.”

"Tropic Ocean Airways began Santa’s seaplane initiative in Bimini in 2012 and we are truly excited to return this year to where it all started. What makes this reunion even more special is the opportunity to join forces with our longtime partner Resorts World Bimini. Seeing the children’s faces light up with wonder when they see Santa arrive in a seaplane is yet another example of what makes this time of year so special,” said Tropic Ocean Airways’ Founder and CEO, Rob Ceravolo.

The Toy Drive is just the beginning of Resorts World Bimini’s community building efforts this holiday season. Earlier this month, they also donated Christmas trees to all nine local churches in Bimini along with crafts for the kids to make their own Christmas decorations. Additionally, the team recently helped out in efforts related to the donation of Bimini’s very first fire truck, offering rooms and food for local South Florida firefighters that will be providing firefighting training as well as CPR and first aid training to over 40 local volunteers on the island.
