“What started out as a craft challenge to find an innovative way to utilize the conch shell to generate support of Breast Cancer Awareness during the month of October, has morphed into the wonderful creation of the Marva Brickell Conch Shell Collection.

“With a yearning in my spirit to capture her well fought journey, I have designed pieces that are fashion trendy, yet reflect her vibrant and bubbly spirit.

I consider it to be a fitting and perpetual tribute in honor of my beloved cousin/sister who lost her battle with breast cancer in March 2018.

“May each piece purchased and worn generate a heightened zest and love for a beautiful and meaningful life. May her soul continue to rest in eternal peace.” -Dandria Miller

The Marva Brickell Collection (MBC) was inspired and designed by Ms. Dandria Miller, cousin of the deceased.

Each piece has been carefully handcrafted from the native Bahamian Conch Shell, and reflects the inner beauty and personality of Marva who lived life with great enthusiasm, luster, joy and happiness.

The various shades of pinks shown in each piece of jewelry, is a representation of Marva’s true and authentic spirit and personality. Funny that even though she’s gone, yet she lives on.

Charming, loving, kind, strong, tenacious, are only a few of the adjectives that describe the life and legacy of Marva Brickell McDonald- Jones, who for seven (7) years searched for the cure for breast cancer.

Diligently, every 21 days for three (3) months, she would travel from Nassau to Frederick, Maryland for treatment in an effort to beat the disease. However, in March, 2018 the Father saw it fit to call her home.

She was a champion, a phenomenal woman, an amazing mother (to Brandante and Davanee), sister and friend to many.

Despite her many setbacks, struggles, and challenges, her faith in God was evidenced by her favorite saying “God’s gat this.”

Often when questioned about her journey with breast cancer she’d simply smile, and say “if I had to do it all over again I would not change a thing… I would be the first in line saying: ‘Lord use me’.”

Such courage and strength she displayed! She was a model for all who knew her.

The impact of her short 50 years on earth was fearless and relentless, as she touched and transformed lives in true “Marva Brickell the first,” style.

Part proceeds from the sale of the MBC will go towards supporting the Cancer Society of The Bahamas, and her ten (10) year old daughter – Davanee.
