The Caribbean Bottling Company (CBC) recently donated $40,000 to Cans for Kids. CBC has supported the non-profit organization, which raises funds for schools and youth organizations by recycling aluminum cans, for a number of years, but recently became a major corporate sponsor.

“We have worked along with Cans for Kids since about 2009, but this year we decided to increase our support for this amazing organization,” noted Nikia Wells, CBC Marketing Manager – Communications. “In addition to financial and advertising contributions, we also donate scrap metal to the organization, and have been doing so for several years.

Cans for Kids’ main goals are to reduce the amount of solid waste that ends up at landfills, enlighten the public on the long-term benefits of recycling, and raise funds for kids in the Bahamas.

“It is our hope that recycling will become a common practice for the next generation of Bahamian children” noted Lesly Williams - Cans for Kids Project Manager. “And, with the help of generous sponsors, like Caribbean Bottling, we are able to do something good for the environment, while helping young men and women contribute to the advancement of their schools.”

In addition to CBC’s support of the Cans for Kids program, the company also recycles scrap cardboard and pallets and has implemented a number of on-site water conservation programs.

“We have recycling bins and recycling programs at our facilities, and we are dedicated to taking part in events and activities that can encourage our fellow Bahamians to make small changes that can greatly impact our environment” added Wells.

In early 2018, The Coca-Cola Company announced a massive global ambition to recycle all of its packaging by 2030. As the official bottler of Coca-Cola beverages in the Bahamas, the Caribbean Bottling Company will continue to look for new and innovative ways to make that goal a reality, in the Bahamas.
