The Bahamas AIDS Foundation’s inaugural Red Tee Charity Golf Tournament recently took place at the Royal Blue Golf Course. Over 50 golfers turned up for an afternoon of golfing for a great cause.

Played with a two-man scramble format, the tournament was sanctioned by the Bahamas Golf Federation, who were on hand to support the event. Walking away with top prizes were:

Ø 1st Place – Mario Carey & Tim Smith

Ø 2nd Place – Leander Brice & Ural Pratt

Ø 3rd Place – Ken Gibson & Fausto Pezzente

Closest to the Pin awards went to Mario Carey, Sean Longley and Eustan Forbes. Longest Drive awards were taken by Ché Chase and Birgit Ludig Dridi.

This event was a significant fundraiser for the Foundation, contributing significantly to its ongoing mission to support the fight against HIV/AIDS in the community. Proceeds will also assist with funding for the Foundation’s Outreach Programme for Children which currently provides for over 80 children. The Tournament will also support the long-term plans for the construction of a multipurpose building to accommodate the Foundation’s activities and programmes.

While the Tournament supported the work of the Foundation, players also had the opportunity to compete for amazing prizes, including 4 Hole in One prizes: a 2018 Mercedes Benz, a Vespa motorcycle, Sea Doo Jet Ski and a luxury Golf Cart. Hole in One Sponsors included Tyreflex Star Motors, Shirley Enterprises and Harbourside Marine. Unfortunately, none of the players managed to capture a hole in one but the prizes certainly added to the day’s excitement.

The Grand Raffle prize, An Exuma Getaway: a 2-night stay at Grand Isle Resort and round-trip airfare for 2, courtesy of Sky Bahamas went to Jim Maynard.
