RBDF Rangers presented with Cheque

The Bahamas Maritime Association’s (BMA) Chairman, Ms. Denise Lewis-Johnson, along with fellow board members presented the Royal Bahamas Defence Force (RBDF) Rangers Program with a cheque in support of the youth program.

The cheque was presented by Dr. Shawn Thurston, a director at BMA, at Coral Harbour Base on Thursday past. Lieutenant Delvonne Duncombe, Director of the RBDF Rangers Program, gratefully received the donation on behalf of Commander Defence Force, Commodore Tellis Bethel, and the Rangers youth program.

The Rangers Program consists of over 1,000 members within approximately 30 high schools in New Providence, Grand Bahama, Abaco, the Berry Islands, Eleuthera, Long Island and North Andros. The program is designed to develop leadership and character within the lives of the students, in addition to exposing them to careers in the maritime sector, both naval and commercial.

Also present during the cheque presentation at the Defence Force Base were the Deputy Prime Minister, the Honourable Peter Turnquest, the Honourable Frankie Campbell, Minister of Transport and Local Government with responsibility for The Bahamas Maritime Association, Mr. Peter Goulandris, Deputy Chairman, and Captain Dwain Hutchinson, Acting Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director, BMA.
