Four days after a massive blaze ripped through the Creole community in Abaco, team BTC is still doing all that it can to assist those impacted by this disaster. On Sunday, BTC’s first responders went into the community to lend a hand to affected residents, providing access to food, shelter and clothing. Today, the company has announced that it has expanded its efforts in its attempt to assuage the burgeoning concerns of those displaced.

BTC today announced that it will partner with BAF Financial to assist parents with getting their children ready to return to school. This partnership will include the provision of school uniforms, books and lunch. These efforts will help just over forty children. 

CEO for BTC, Dexter Cartwright said, “We have been monitoring this situation closely. Since Sunday, our teams have been on the ground assisting where we can to make the affected residents feel as comfortable as possible. We have provided meals, clothing, toiletries and food items. There was also a need for additional washrooms, and we were able to construct temporary facilities. We are grateful for the support of our corporate partners who helped us to provide much needed items to help those in need.”

Carmen Williams, BTC’s Manager for Retail in Abaco met with the creole community last evening to share what BTC has done to assist the community thus far, and its plans to assist moving forward. Mr. Henry, a representative from the Haitian Embassy and Pastor Presnor of Mt. Olive Baptist Church also attended the meeting.

To date, BTC has partnered with Mt. Olive Baptist Church, Abaco Grocery and Communications Services, the Our Grand Bahama Association, All Build Hardware and Stop and Shop to provide assistance to the creole community.
