The Bahamian delegation took the opportunity to meet with Morlette Johnson, a Bahamian student who is a Senior Counsel in the Office of the Attorney General. She commenced studies in October toward the Master of Laws in the International Maritime Law programme at IMLI.

Minister Campbell said he is “impressed” with the institution and the diverse range of students enrolled who represent 49 countries.

He said The Bahamas is interested in opening the doors of the entire shipping industry particularly to young Bahamians who are in search of career opportunities.

Professor Attard said his institution is proud to disseminate the rule of international maritime law to countries all of over the world because shipping is an international business.

The visit is also in keeping with Minister Campbell’s recent commitment at LJM Maritime Academy’s Pre-Sea Passing Out and Graduation to assist in opening doors for young persons with interest in the maritime industry, and to his vision to one day have Bahamians as part of the crew of every vessel that flies a Bahamian Flag.
