A 79-year-old woman who lives off the Eastern Road was shot in the leg yesterday morning as she drove her Mitsubishi Mirage east on Cordeaux Avenue.

The shooting at Cordeaux Avenue and Amos Ferguson Street took place about 11.10am.

The woman told police that she heard gunshots and suddenly realised that she had been shot. The bullet went through the car door and into her left leg. She was taken by EMS to hospital where she is reported to be in stable condition.

Police are investigating.
