GENERAL SITUATION: An upper level low in combination with a tropical wave will enhance convective activity across the SE and Central Bahamas today and they continue westward through the NW Bahamas on Friday. Meanwhile, a broad surface high pressure will maintain moderate to fresh breezes across the Central and SE Bahamas as it maneuver up and down the western Atlantic Ocean through early next week. From Sunday into early next week there is the potential for tropical cyclone formation that should be watched with a very keen eye, as the tropics become very active at this time of year.

Friday 18th – Mostly sunny, hot and humid with few isolated showers or thunderstorms across the NW and Central Bahamas, turning partly cloudy at night with scattered showers or possible isolated thunderstorms. Elsewhere, mostly cloudy and breezy with scattered showers or isolated thunderstorms across the SE Bahamas through night time. Maximum temperature 92°F and minimum temperature 77°F. Small craft caution continue for the Central and SE Bahamas. Winds E to SE at 10 to 15 knots in the NW Bahamas, falling light and variable at times and E’ly at 15 to 20 knots in the Central and SE Bahamas. Seas 2 to 4 feet in the NW Bahamas and 4 to 7 feet in the Central and SE Bahamas.

Saturday 19th – Partly to mostly cloudy, hot and sticky with scattered showers or isolated thunderstorms mainly across the NW and Central Bahamas from the day through night time. Maximum temperature 91°F and minimum temperature 76°F. Small craft should continue to exercise caution in the Central and SE Bahamas. Winds E to SE at 10 to 15 knots for the NW Bahamas with higher gusts and E’ly at 15 to 20 knots in the Central and SE Bahamas. Seas 2 to 4 feet in the NW Bahamas but higher in gusts and 4 to 7 feet in the Central and SE Bahamas.

Sunday 20th – A mix of sun and clouds, hot and sticky with few isolated showers or a possible thunderstorm during the day. Mainly fair and warm at nightfall. Maximum temperature 93ºF and minimum temperature 81ºF. Small craft should exercise caution across the entire Bahamas with stronger gusts likely over all areas. Winds E to SE at 12 to 18 with stronger gusts in the NW Bahamas and E to SE at 15 to 20 knots in the Central and SE Bahamas with stronger gusts likely. Seas 4 to 6 feet in the NW Bahamas and 4 to 7 feet in the Central and SE Bahamas but higher in gusts for all areas.

Monday 21st – A mix of sun and clouds, hot and humid with scattered showers or an isolated thunderstorm during the day. Partly cloudy and warm with few lingering showers or a possible thunderstorm at night. Maximum temperature 92ºF and minimum temperature 82ºF. Small craft should exercise caution across the entire Bahamas. Winds are E to SE at 15 to 20 knots in the NW Bahamas and E’ly at 15 to 20 knots in the Central and SE Bahamas with stronger gusts likely. Seas 4 to 7 feet across the entire Bahamas, but higher seas in gusts.

Tuesday 22nd – Partly cloudy to cloudy and hot with scattered showers and thunderstorm today through night time. Maximum temperature 91ºF and minimum temperature 82ºF. Small craft should exercise caution across the entire Bahamas with improvement by afternoon across the NW and Central Bahamas. Winds E to SE at 15 to 20 knots in the NW and Central Bahamas, decreasing to 10 to 15 knots by early afternoon and E’ly at 15 to 20 knots with stronger gusts in the SE Bahamas. Seas 4 to 7 feet in the NW and Central Bahamas, falling to 2 to 4 feet by afternoon and 4 to 7 feet in the SE Bahamas but higher in gusts.

Wednesday 23rd – Partly cloudy to cloudy, hot and humid with few scattered showers or a possible thunderstorm early in the NW Bahamas. Fair and warm at night time. Maximum temperature 91ºF and minimum temperature 81ºF. No warnings but possible gusts to small craft caution over parts of the Bahamas. Winds E to SE at 10 to 15 knots in the NW and Central Bahamas, falling light and variable at times and E‘ly at 12 to 18 knots with higher gusts in SE Bahamas, decreasing to 10 to 15 knots by early afternoon. Seas 2 to 4 feet over the NW and Central Bahamas and 3 to 5 feet in the SE Bahamas but higher in gusts, falling to 2 to 4 feet by early afternoon.

Beachgoers and Mariners should exercise extreme caution due to the high risk of rip currents and rough surf, especially along the northern and eastern shorelines during stated advisories. Boaters and beachgoers should be alert for possible waterspout activity and take all necessary precautions to protect life and property.
