ANASTASIA Yakimova may have been an unseeded player but she left the Bahamas with her first title in almost a year when she clinched the inaugural Bahamas Open Women's Tournament singles crown.
She did it Saturday at the National Tennis Center where she upset No.5 seed Angelique Kerber 6-3, 6-2 in the tourney's grand finale. It turned out to be Yakimova's 11th ITF title and her first since she beat Zuzana Kucová of Slovakia 6-4 4-6 6-3 last April 3 in Monzón, Spain.
