One month later and the program still going strong. Since Thursday, June 29, 2017 and every Thursday thereafter, chefs from Meliá Nassau Beach All-Inclusive have been preparing 30 healthy lunches for the children at the Ranfurly Home for Children.

The Ranfurly Home for Children, currently provides a safe haven for up to 30 children between the ages of 12 to 18 years at their facilities on Mackey Street.

On Thursday, June 29, 2017 at 11am., Administrator Mr. Roberts picked up 30 healthy lunches from the culinary staff from Meliá Nassau Beach All-Inclusive.

Reiss Engineering in conjunction with the Culinary Team, Food and Beverage and Human Resource Department of Meliá have collaborated to establish a weekly food donation program and a culinary mentoring program for the children of Ranfurly Home.

Reiss Engineering, the largest Bahamian-owned engineering firm, recently donated $5,000 to the Ranfurly Home for Children to assist with the programs and needs of the children that currently call the facility home.

“We are excited to collaborate with Reiss Engineering to support The Ranfurly Home for Children,” stated Latoya Hanna-Moxey, Senior Marketing Manager, Meliá Nassau Beach All-Inclusive.

“Reiss Engineering has supported The Ranfurly Home for Children for several years and when Dr. Diaz from Reiss Engineering approached Meliá to support their efforts, we jumped at the opportunity to collaborate and assist with weekly food donations.”

Meliá’s support goes deeper, with the establishment of a monthly mentoring program. Once per month, a chef from Meliá Nassau Beach All-Inclusive will visit the Ranfurly Home for Children and assist their cook with meal preparation.

The mentoring program will also include interacting with the children, coordinating cooking activities and educating them on healthy eating habits.

“Food is a unifier,” stated Arturo Gonzalez, Executive Chef, Meliá Nassau Beach All-Inclusive. “It is a basic need of all humans, but so much more as it provides a means to gather, share and connect.

The entire Meliá culinary team is looking forward to connecting with the children and staff at The Ranfurly Home for Children through this initiative.”

Initiatives designed to support The Ranfurly Home for Children have been a priority for Reiss Engineering for several years.

“We are committed to giving back to the community in which we work and live,” stated Dr. Robert Reiss, President of Reiss Engineering and a native of Grand Bahama.

Since 1956, The Ranfurly Home for Children has served as a safe haven for thousands of Bahamian orphaned, abused, neglected or abandoned children.

It is a privately-run organization that relies heavily on donations by private citizens or corporations.

“Ranfurly Home is grateful to Reiss Engineering and Meliá for this wonderful initiative,” stated Alexander Roberts, Administrator of The Ranfurly Home for Children.

Through the Meliá C.A.R.E.S. (Comforting and Repairing Everyone's Spirits) Outreach Program we will continue our initiatives in caring for the community.

The standard operating procedure of the weekly lunch and monthly mentoring program was signed on Thursday, June 29 2017 at 11a.m., by Executive Chef Arturo Gonzalez, Bergit Godet-McKenzie, Director of Human Resources; Dr. Eileen Diaz of Reiss Engineering and Mr. Alexander Roberts, Administrator of the Ranfurly Home for Children. The event was held at Cilantro restaurant in Meliá Nassau Beach All-Inclusive.
