Giving back is essential year-round. Nowadays, every big company has a philanthropic department that is active but there are small businesses who do more than just claim they give back and instead, actually go the extra mile to be charitable.

Bahamas Striping Group of Companies (BSGC) recently donated seventy five hundred dollars to Felia Rigby of Grand Bahama through its charity foundation, The Dollar That Could Project.

During the last quarter of 2016, Davina Rutherford of The Little Warriors Campaign, and The Dollar That Could Project launched a weekend campaign at Sawyer’s Fresh Market with the hopes of contributing funds to augment the five hundred thousand which is needed for chemotherapy treatment, surgeries, and biopsies for Felia, who has been fighting Sarcoma Bone Cancer.

Ms. Rutherford indicated that Bahamas Striping has assisted many charity organizations, and persons throughout Grand Bahama and the country through its The Dollar That Could Project and they seem to have a keen and genuine interest in taking care of children.

“The Bahamas Striping team has become an integral part of the Grand Bahama community, and The Little Warriors Campaign, and the Rigby family is extremely grateful for the donation,” said Ms. Rutherford.

She added that although the doctors were unable to save her leg, Felia is in excellent spirits, mentally, and spiritually, and she is now focusing on getting well, and procuring a prosthetic leg.

As of today, The Dollar That Could Project has donated fifty thousand dollars to various charity organizations throughout the country.

Mr. Dominic Sturrup, Chairman of Bahamas Striping Group of Companies, indicated that the funds raised for various charities demonstrates the power of one simple dollar.

“When we first launched The Dollar That Could Foundation, many persons believed that we would not be able to raise enough funds to assist the various charities, however, The Bahamas Red Cross, BAARK, Special Olympics Bahamas, The Bahamas Humane Society, The Rotary Clubs of Grand Bahama, The Grand Bahama Humane Society, The Pilot Club of Lucaya, and The Grand Bahama Children’s Home, have all benefited tremendously from the generosity of the Bahamian public,” Mr. Sturrup said.

He added that the principals of The Bahamas Striping Group of Companies know first-hand the plight and struggles of many Bahamians because they lived some of the same experiences, but as the company continues to grow and expand, they will continue to a corporate citizen and do good and make an impact in the Bahamian community.
