With the pressures of this life forcing the hearts of many to "wax cold", the Mission and Evangelism Ministry of the Nassau Circuit is inviting the public to attend their 2nd Annual "Night Of Revival Services" to ignite a fresh fire that will bring strength and healing within.
As a branch of the Bahamas Turks & Caicos Islands (BTCI) District of the Methodist Church in the Caribbean and The Americas (MCCA), the Mission and Evangelism Ministry is proud to present the five-day event which is slated for October 9-13.
The revival services, which will be held under the theme "Powered For Purpose", will feature several dynamic speakers, each expected to bring timely messages of hope and a call for spiritual restoration in the nation.
From October 3-6, the country experienced devastation in the form of Hurricane Matthew. Bahamians remain steadfast and strong in order to survive.
As stories continue to circulate concerning the death toll in other nations due to Hurricane Matthew, the majority of citizens in The Bahamas are grateful to God for bringing them through the storm with no lost of lives recorded. In light of this, the "Night of Revival Services" will not only serve as a platform of thanksgiving to God, but an avenue in which interested persons can take steps to renew their lives in Him.
The first three nights of services will be held at Rhodes Memorial Methodist Church beginning at 7 p.m. each night. Rev. Livingstone Malcolm will speak on Wednesday, followed by Rev. Anthony Sampson of Zion Baptist Church on Thursday and then Rev. Elnathan Corey Rolle, youth pastor of Salem Union Baptist Church on Friday.
On Saturday, a special workshop will be held at Rhodes from 9 a.m. to 12 noon where presenter Dr. Charles Diggis will speak on "Healthy Living" and Rev. Livingstone Malcolm will encourage attendees to practice "Healthy Thinking".
The final service will be held on Sunday, beginning at 5 p.m. at Wesley Methodist Church on Malcolm Road East, where various churches from the Nassau Circuit are expected to be in attendance when BTCI District President Bishop Theophilus Rolle gives his keynote address.
Emily Demeritte, the feedback concerning last years's revival services was very good, as it allowed many Christians to think outside the box by seeing the value of wholesome worship to God and being guided by the Holy Spirit from an evangelistic point of view.
This year, Rev. Demeritte revealed that she expects all the churches from the Nassau Circuit to come together again, but this time to seek ways that allow an "ignition of God's Holy Fire'" within so they can be empowered to do His will.
"Once this fire of spirituality is ignited, then we as Methodists will be bold enough to get people motivated to do more in spreading the Gospel," she said.
Rev. Demeritte added that she hopes the revival services will also attract more young people as the youth department of the circuit must continually be revitalized to promote its spiritual growth.
"Our church is always in need of young preachers and workshop leaders, so we hope to get these persons interested," she said. "We hope with these revival services that if they are among us, they will be encouraged and empowered to come forward."
As time for the revival services draws near, it is hoped that individuals in need of a spiritual spark in their hearts will make plans to attend and to never give up as they pursue honoring God with their lives. T-shirts commemorating these events are available at the various churches.
