Bahamian Zane Knowles will get a chance to display his skills in front of some of the most influential coaches and scouts in professional basketball when he laces up his sneakers for the Salt Lake City Stars of the National Basketball Association (NBA) Development League (NBA D- League) this season.

Knowles was signed to the team just days before the NBA D-League Draft, which was held on Monday.

The 6-foot-10, 255-pound center is now into his third season as a professional and will look to use the D-League as a springboard to the next level.

The Stars serve as a feeder team for the Utah Jazz and they will begin their season on November 12 against Sioux Falls.
This year will mark the Stars' first year in Utah. They will play at the Lifetime Activities Center-Bruin Arena, on the campus of Salt Lake Community College. Prior to the move to Salt lake City, the team was known as the Idaho Stampede.

The NBA D-League is the NBA's official minor league, preparing players, coaches, officials, trainers, and front-office staff for the NBA while acting as the league's research and development laboratory. An all-time high, 39 percent of all NBA players could boast of NBA D-League experience, as of the 2015-16 season.

Last year, Knowles played for the Tokyo Cinq Reves of the Japanese BJ League. In 21 games, he averaged 17.3 points, 9.9 rebounds and 1.9 assists per game. Knowles also played for the Wakayama Trians in the National Basketball League (Japan), the top league in Japan, that season. In 21 games, he averaged 7.5 points and 6.2 rebounds per game.

Knowles graduated from Texas A&M-Corpus Christi in 2014.

In his final year in college, he averaged 7.0 points and 7.6 rebounds in 34 games for the Corpus Christi Islanders. They lost in the semi-finals of the Southland Conference Tournament to Sam Houston State University.
