Police report traffic fatality, armed robbery and weapons seizure

One man died and another was injured in a traffic accident on Saturday, police said.

According to police, the accident occurred shortly after 6 p.m. at St. Vincent Road near Olive Road when a 1998 Honda Integra and a scooter, both driven by men, collided.

The driver of the scooter was rushed to hospital, where he died, while the driver of the car was treated for minor injuries and released.

In other news, police were searching for an armed robbery suspect.

According to police, on Saturday morning, a man was walking on Collins Avenue when a man armed with a cutlass robbed him of cash and a cell phone before fleeing on foot.

On Sunday, police seized two illegal handguns and a quantity of drugs. In the first incident, at around 2:30 p.m., officers from the Firearm Tracing and Investigations Unit retrieved a .380 pistol from a bushy area off East Street South, police said.

At 8 p.m., officers from the Selective Enforcement Team discovered a bag containing marijuana in an abandoned building off Marshall Road.

Around that same time, officers from the Selective Enforcement Team, in a separate incident, discovered a nine millimeter pistol with 12 rounds of ammunition in a bushy area on East Street near Bahama Avenue, police said.
