TWO men are dead and two others are in hospital after a series of shootings in Nassau and Grand Bahama. These deaths pushed the country’s homicide count to 33 for the year, according to The Tribune’s records.

The latest homicide took place shortly after 2am Sunday in Eight Mile Rock, Grand Bahama and marks the third murder on that island in four days.

According to police, officers were on patrol in the Eight Mile Rock area when gunshots were heard. Officers went to an area in Hanna Hill where they discovered a Dodge van with a man inside. The victim had multiple gunshot wounds to his body. He was taken to the Rand Memorial Hospital where he died of his injuries shortly after his arrival.

Police have not yet officially identified the victim, but The Tribune understands he is 22-year-old Sanchez Amario Ferguson.

The second homicide took place in New Providence shortly 6pm on Saturday off Solider Road.

Police said the victim was sitting near a business on Churchill Avenue when three men armed with handguns shot him multiple times before fleeing the area in a green Honda. Police recovered a .357 handgun from the scene.

Assistant Commissioner of Police Stephen Dean said police are unsure at this time if the gun belonged to the victim or one of the gunmen.

The victim was taken to hospital where he later died of his injuries.

A few hours earlier, around 1 pm Saturday, police were on the scene of another shooting, this time on Fire Trail Road.

According to police, the victim was walking when he was approached by two men armed with a handgun who robbed him of cash, a watch and a cell phone.

The suspects then shot the victim before fleeing in a white Honda Fit. He was taken to hospital where he remains in serious, but stable condition.

Another man was shot shortly after 1am on Saturday. Police said this victim was found outside a nightclub located on Wulff Road near East Street after being shot. He was taken to hospital, where he remains in serious condition.
