Murderer sentenced to 50 years in prison

Convicted murderer Mark Anthony Capron was yesterday sentenced to 50 years in prison by Supreme Court Justice Vera Watkins.
The sentence is retroactive to January 27, 2010 – the date of his conviction.
Capron was initially convicted on October 17, 2002, of the murder of Andrew Simms Ferguson. He was sentenced to death.
At the time the death sentence was mandatory for those convicted of murder. However, after appealing to the Privy Council, a re-trial was ordered.
On January 27, 2010, following a re-trial, Capron was again convicted of Ferguson's murder. Capron shot Ferguson to death March 6, 2001 at Johnson Alley, off Wulff Road.
