Bahamas Natural History Conference opens Monday

NASSAU, Bahamas -- Prime Minister Perry Christie will open the third Bahamas Natural History Conference on Monday (March 14) during an official reception at the Atlantis Resort on Paradise Island.
Conference working sessions begin on Tuesday and run through Thursday at the College of The Bahamas in Oakes Field. The sessions are open to the public for a small registration fee.
Over 80 talks by both Bahamian and international researchers are being presented at the three-day conference. The presentations will also include work by Bahamian college students. And there will be several field trips to family island national parks.
Featured speakers include Dr Peter Marra, one of the world's top experts on migratory birds, and acclaimed wildlife photographer and conservationist Melissa Groo.
Marra heads the Smithsonian Migratory Bird Centre in Washington DC. Groo is the wildlife photography columnist for Outdoor Photographer magazine, and a contributor to Wild Planet magazine.
