Letter: Govt deserves public spanking for paucity of ideas in fighting crime

EDITOR, The Tribune. I write to say that the Government deserves a public spanking for the paucity of their ideas when it comes to fighting crime. It appears that they take the people of this country for fools. Hard on the heels of the successful threat to have their imported DPP called to the Bar, the first of the crime fighting initiatives was rolled out of the box. What was the initiative: the creation of a Gun Court, slated to start today (Tribune and Guardian Sat. 29th Jan), a dedicated Magistrate's Court which will deal with gun crimes only like the Magistrate's Court that deals mainly with drugs crimes.
