Miss Bahamas Teenager Davette Strachan places top 15 in Teen Universe Pageant

Miss Bahamas Teenager, Davette Strachan travelled to compete in The Miss Teen Universe Pageant in San Jose,’ Costa Rica. She represented the Bahamas to compete against 35 beauties from around the world. The International pageant hosted the teens for one week, where they participated in preliminary events which included: swims suit, evening gown, national cultural dance and costume competition. The Miss Bahamas Teenager Organization is excited to announce that Miss Teenager Bahamas 2015, Davette Strachan made the top 15 placements at Miss Teen Universe Pageant which was held in Costa Rica on February 2016. The Director, “Anishka Lockhart” of the Miss Bahamas Teenager Organization walked away with the Most Outstanding National Director award over 34 other countries at the Miss Teen Universe Pageant 2016.

Miss Davette Strachan a 17 year old student of West Minister College, was crowned Miss Bahamas Teenager in June 2015, capturing the title over eight other contestants, becoming one of the young women to effect positive change. To fulfil this commitment Davette Strachan pledged to assist young boys and girls who are less fortunate and began her community service at the mission center on Quakoo Street and The Children's Emergency Hostel; where she assisted them with their homework, allow them to express their feelings and emotions and provide them with meals on Saturdays. After obtaining her title, Davette participated in a raffle that raised funds for the AIDS foundation.

Miss Bahamas Teenager, Davette Strachan stated that her experience at Miss Teen Universe Pageant was intense; between rehearsals, photo shoots, tours and competitions, it has proven why her pageant training was so vital.  She further stated that the experience has strengthened her to become a more resilient person. Expounding on the topic she indicated that the great part about competing in Miss Teen Universe pageant, despite the language barrier, was that she was afforded the opportunity to compete in a beautiful country. Davette is amazed by the nature in Costa Rica; she noted that this was her first time seeing huge mountains. Miss Bahamas Teenager further stated that she was excited about meeting the other contestants, although they hail from different part of the world, they are similar in a lot of ways.

Davette advises young ladies that are interested in pageantry to follow the pageant before entering, be prepared, ensure that they have a platform and is passionate about following their dreams. Competing, winning and maintaining the title requires a lot of commitment, dedication and tenacity, a person that possesses those characteristics will be unstoppable with God on their side.

Miss Bahamas Teenager noted that she "is not looking for recognition but to fulfill my mandate and desire to help others who are not as fortunate as I am." She will now be continuing her community service and will continue to be a positive role model and youth ambassador for The Bahamas.
