STEMBoard, the global engineering solutions company co-founded by Bahamian-American engineer Aisha Bowe, is proud to announce The DHL Express Solar Grand Challenge and Hack 2016.
This Solar Grand Challengegives student teams throughout the Bahamas, Bermuda and Cayman Islands an opportunity to create portable, low-cost solar energy solutions. Culminating in a solar energy education track and pitch competition at STEMBoard’s second annual Hack technology camp, students from the winning team will earn up to $10,000 in prizes. Additionally, these students may see their idea come to fruition and directly help DHL Express reduce utility costs at its facilities.
Under the guidance of Darvin Russell, Country Manager for DHL Express Bahamas, the Solar Grand Challenge will not only challenge Caribbean students, but provide them with opportunities to solve real-world problems and learn from innovators in a variety of disciplines. DHL Express and the STEMBoard team are committed to improving Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) education throughout the Caribbean.

STEMBoard is also proud to announce DHL Express as the title sponsor of Hack 2016. STEMBoard's second-annual summer technology camp will be held July 18-July 23, 2016 at St. Andrew’s School in Nassau, Bahamas.
“We are excited to partner with DHL Express to continue to bring world-class opportunities to the youth of the Caribbean. This year’s camp leverages international experts in engineering and entrepreneurship to encourage and foster the development renewable energy initiatives.” said Aisha Bowe, Co-Founder of STEMBoard.
The camp will be free to selected students in grades 9-12. Students will have the opportunity to pick the education track of their choice based on the curriculum which is divided into four disciplines: Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Engineering and Solar Energy.

Last year’s five-day camp was a tremendous success, giving over 50 public and private school students in grades 9-12 an opportunity to work with and learn from an internationally recognized team of STEM educators, entrepreneurs, technologists as well as the first African-American Astronaut to walk in Space.
