A U.S. army veteran who admitted to grabbing a stranger's buttocks at the Atlantis casino will be sentenced today.

Anthony Purgason, 46, of North Carolina, on Tuesday pleaded guilty to the charge of indecent assault against the 30-year-old woman when he appeared before Magistrate Samuel McKinney. The victim, of Boston, Massachusetts, arrived in The Bahamas with her husband for a vacation at the Atlantis resort on January 6. She was standing at the blackjack table around 1:30 a.m. on January 10 when she felt someone grabbing her buttocks.

The woman turned around and asked Purgason why he had touched her. He did not respond and only stared at her before walking away. The woman reported the matter and Purgason was arrested. His lawyer, Alex Morley, asked McKinney not to impose a custodial sentence.

Morley said that Purgason was remorseful and admitted guilt at the earliest opportunity. Purgason, who served in the army for 10 years, currently works as an environmental cleaner. McKinney remanded Purgason to prison until his sentencing today.
