Three patrons and two off-duty Royal Bahamas Defence Force (RBDF) marines were injured in a fight at a night club in Inagua on Saturday, according to Assistant Commissioner of Police Stephen Dean. While several residents exchanged messages and posted on social media that a riot ensued following the altercation inside Super's Night Club in Matthew Town around 2 a.m., Dean denied this.

"We are still trying to get to the bottom of this," Dean said. "This was a dance. At every dance everyone is drinking.

"It was a small bar fight. Police brought it under control with the assistance of community leaders. This was not a riot. It was a small bar fight."

A photo of a woman with a gash to the forehead made the rounds on social media over the weekend. More photos showed a man with several lacerations around his face and neck. In another photo, a man's head was bandaged and his shirt was soaked in blood.

Dean acknowledged the photos, but insisted their injuries were not serious. He said glass bottles were used during the brawl, but said no one had to be kept in hospital. Dean traveled to Inagua with a team of investigators on Saturday. He said police were still attempting to determine what caused the fight and whether charges will to be filed against anyone.
