Another successful and well-attended National Women's Disciple Conference and Retreat was hosted by the Church of God, from October 14-17.

The conference, which took place at the W.A. Johnson Auditorium in the Church of God Convention Centre on October 14 and 15, featured the girls' ministries and a communion service. Attendees witnessed a riveting feature address delivered by international evangelist Joycelyn Barnett.

"The attendance was outstanding every night, beginning from Wednesday night when we had our girls' clubs, they came out in their uniforms and showcased their talents," said National Women's President Minister Cynthia Johnson. "On Thursday night we had communion night, where the women wore all-white and the administrative bishop, Bishop Moses Johnson spoke and that was also well-attended."

The retreat, held on October 16 and 17 at the Melia Nassau Beach resort, was also well-attended, attracting participants from jurisdictions such as New England, Boston, New York, Florida,  Jamaica, and from all of the major islands in The Bahamas.

"We had well over 500 women every night. The Melia banquet hall was packed to capacity. There was also significant participation from men who accompanied their wives to the event. Our goal was to encourage and unite the women and to uplift their spirits and their lives," said Johnson. "We wanted to bring some restoration and rejuvenation to women spiritually."

Among the many speakers at the event were Bishop Moses Johnson, who spoke on marriage; Laurel Butler who spoke on widowhood; Stephanie Sweeting spoke on "what's next after separation and divorce"; Rev. Rachael Mackey spoke on the "call to singleness"; and Joelyn Stubbs spoke on "single and waiting".

"Everyone's expectations were met," noted Johnson. "People shared their trials and struggles and a lot of spiritual work and healing took place."

This is the 26th year the event is being held.
