Non-profits, the Governor General Youth Award (GGYA) and Hands for Hunger, got a much-needed boost from recent donations from Milo Butler Distributors. The wholesaler presented the GGYA program with 120 kerosene lamps to assist with Family Island expeditions, and cases of Fisher Nuts to Hands For Hunger's food distribution program.

GGYA is a youth-based self-development initiative that equips participants with life skills in a fun and interactive way. To qualify for awards, students volunteer their time and complete excursions throughout The Bahamas. More than 10,000 young Bahamians have benefitted from the GGYA movement since it began some three decades ago. This fall, students and youth leaders will use the lamps from Milo Butler during camping expeditions.

Fabian Fernander, Milo Butler sales and marketing manager said the donation to GGYA was in line with the company's commitment to youth development.  "Programs like GGYA allow students to develop critical skills that last a lifetime. We were especially excited that the lamps are going to be used as students explore the Family Islands," he said.

Fernander said the work being done by Hands For Hunger was commendable, and that their donation would help to drive their efforts to provide less fortunate members of the community with healthy and nutritious meals.

Hands For Hunger collects surplus foods from wholesalers, restaurants and hotels to be distributed to 14 agencies and feeding programs throughout New Providence. Representatives thanked Milo Butler for the donation and confirmed the products would assist the nonprofit's food outreach efforts.
