Two local nonprofits got a much-needed boost thanks to recent donations from Milo Butler Distributors. The wholesaler presented the Governor’s General Youth Award (GGYA) program with 120 kerosene lamps to assist with Family Island expeditions. Milo Butler also donated cases of Fisher Nuts to Hands For Hunger’s food distribution program.

GGYA, a youth-based self-development initiative equips participants with life skills in a fun and interactive way. To qualify for awards, students volunteer their time and complete excursions throughout The Bahamas. More than 10,000 young Bahamians have benefitted from the GGYA movement since it began some three decades ago. This fall, students and youth leaders will use the lamps from Milo Butler during camping expeditions.

Fabian Fernander, Sales & Marketing Manager at Milo Butler, said the donation to GGYA is in line with the company’s commitment to youth development. “Programs like GGYA allow students to develop critical skills that last a lifetime. We were especially excited that the lamps are going to be used as students explore the Family Islands.”

The team at Milo Butler also stacked cases of Fisher Nuts and handed them over to the delivery team from Hands For Hunger. “The work being done by Hands For Hunger is commendable. Our donation will help to drive their efforts to provide less fortunate members of our community with healthy and nutritious meals,” Fernander added.

Hands For Hunger collects surplus foods from wholesalers, restaurants and hotels to be distributed to 14 agencies and feeding programs throughout New Providence. Representatives thanked Milo Butler for the donation and confirmed the products will greatly assist the nonprofit’s food outreach efforts.
