John S. Bain, managing partner of UHY Bain & Associates has announced the appointment of Nathanial N. McKenzie as partner.

“As one of the few 100 percent Bahamian staffed mid-tier firms, we are delighted to have someone with Mr. McKenzie’s solid background as an auditor and forensic specialist with years of experience in New York and Florida as one of the leaders in our audit and forensic team at UHY Bain & Associates,” said Bain. “The timing is perfect, as the country has seen an increase in white-collar and cyber-crimes. Mr. McKenzie also strengthens our expertise as liquidators, trustees and company administrators.”

Mr. McKenzie is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants licensed in New York and Florida as a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) and in The Bahamas as a Chartered Accountant (CA). He holds a Masters Degree in International Business from Lynn University. He completed graduate studies in forensic and investigative accounting at Keller University. Additionally, McKenzie is a Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE).

McKenzie is a former City of Miami auditor and a Medicaid lead forensic accountant with the Medicaid Fraud Control Unit in Florida. He has previously investigated Medicaid fraud and abuse and served as an expert witness during the prosecution of Medicaid fraud cases by the state attorney general’s office. He has served as a litigation consultant, expert witness, court-appointed expert, forensic accountant and forensic investigator for attorneys and businesses in Florida and New York. He has used forensics and investigative techniques to assist municipalities, government agencies, private companies and individuals to prove or defend against allegations of fraud and financial misconduct.

“I am honored and, at the same time, humbled to join UHY Bain & Associates” said McKenzie. “As a respected firm in auditing, forensic and fraud accounting in The Bahamas, I am delighted to conclude my discussions with Mr. Bain to provide technical services at the partnership level. The synergies we create will allow the skills I’ve developed over the years to be combined with the varied skills of UHY Bain & Associates to allow us to use innovative technology to be a force in the forensic investigative industry in The Bahamas. As larger firms find themselves conflicted from financial forensic investigations, UHY Bain & Associates will fill a widening void in the local profession.”
